Our Enrichment Offer

We take pride in the Enrichment Programme on offer at Didcot Sixth Form. Called the Pivot Programme, it contains a number of elements that will help build your character and confidence during your time at DSF.

Enrichment is the jewel in the crown at DSF. It helps support your journey towards post-A level destinations: university, apprenticeship, or work. Our suite of enrichment opportunities encourages our engaged, passionate students to build skills and explore interests in depth during the two dedicated ‘enrichment’ hours on a Wednesday afternoon. DSF’s diverse academic support programmes complement the extensive range of clubs and societies.

We aim to add to your tool kit of skills so that on leaving sixth form you feel able to make a real difference to the world and have a genuine desire to change the world for the better. The Pivot Programme focuses on servant leadership, critical thinking, creative problem solving, appreciating and understanding difference and... having fun!

The first six weeks of the programme focus on an advanced induction to independent learning and study skills, during which we aim to help our students develop skills that can be used in and beyond the classroom. This programme happily segues for some students into the Extended Project Qualification which is worth half an A-Level.

We view all members of the sixth form as leaders, treating them like the young adults they are, but a smaller group (elected by their peers alongside an interview) forms the Sixth Form Executive. This group works closely with the Sixth Form Leadership Team to help promote the activities of DSF.

The Pivot Programme comprises:

  • Visiting Speaker Series from inspiring individuals who have effected change. Over the past few years we have received visits from politicians (ex-Speaker of the Commons John Bercow), journalists (BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz) and facilitated sessions on careers, finance, wellbeing, first aid, and personal safety
  • A range of student-led socieities, including Medical Sciences society, board games society, politics society, oracy society
  • Our sports offer: squash, tennis, basketball, football, and netball
  • Our extra-curricular musical offer, including Sixth Form Band, RET Orchestra, vocal group, and our a capella group
  • Qualifications: Extended Project Qualification, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, Microsoft Suite Award
  • Opportunities for leadership roles within the sixth form, including formal roles as part of the Sixth Form Executive
  • Our Relationships and Sexuality Education programme, delivered by the School of Sexuality Education
  • The Leadership Hour, where all students in Year 12 are expected to volunteer on programmes for an hour per week in our wider school community
  • Explore creative problem solving, critical thinking and entrepreneurship through the Business Mentoring Programme and Careers Programme
  • Exciting trips to contextualise learning and broaden horizons
